All activities conducted through the SWAN network support families and the timely permanence of children in the custody of county agencies. The network consists of adoption agencies, organizations and individuals who work together on behalf of children.
The cooperative working relationships that network participants have developed facilitate timely permanency for children. When a family is interested in adopting a child in the custody of a county agency, the network can help them to obtain pre-permanency services. When a child is matched with a family, the network will help families through the process leading up to adoption finalization. Finally, a continuum of post-permanency services supports the family until the child reaches adulthood.
